I think you will pay more if you try to reinvent the controller.
IF you use CF Card you only need a conector and an adressdecoder.
Code is already done . For my collection of information (CF spec, APP notes, schem) Send me an e-mail.
You will have enough trouble getting USB to Work and connecting everything.
