i don't know your application but a 8X8 keypad uses 2 full ports, and if you are using LCD(8 bit mode- 11pins)that leaves you with 5 port pins.
it would be a better idea to use a AT computer keyboard(only two port pins - Sclk,SData)or RC5 remote(only one port pin) to save port pins. just a suggestion ! when nothing is mentioned about the type of derivative used one normally assumes a standard 40 pin 12 cycle 8051 with 32 I/O 2 full port = 16 pins LCD(8 bit mode)= 11pins unused pins = 5 and there's plenty of other serial interface options... i never said that mine was the only solution, my last statement clearly says " just a suggestion" and not "THE SOLUTION" |
