#158651 - Yes, it's quite applicable to one-off jobs
Responding to: ???'s previous message
It's confusing because the board has one part number on its label, the bag in which it is contained bears a different number, the box, yet another, and none of them are the one on the invoice.

The website contains documentation for the F120-DK which is what I ordered. What arrived is, indeed, what was described in the F120-DK datasheet.

You'll find the kit contains a programming adapter, a power supply module with connector adapters to fit mains sockets used in various parts of the world, a USB cable, and a couple of CD's with Keil-'C' code samples, along with the PCB. There is information regarding how to use the board with SDCC as well.

Unfortunately, there are no ASM examples, and, in fact, the support folks indicate that they don't support using their product with ASM. This shouldn't prevent you from writing your code in ASM, however.

I don't know that the board is available separately from the development kit. If it is, particularly at lower cost than the "-DK", that would be very interesting.

I find the board a very promising and potentially useful unit with great potential for reuse and for application to a wide range of tasks. It has separate connectors for each of the parallel ports in addition to a 96-pin FEMALE DIN41612-series connector containing most of the available signals. This connector is very robust and very suitable for adapting the C8051FX20-TB to a target circuit.

There's a substantial learning curve associated with its use, however, particularly in using the ANALOG features, and the wide range of SFR's and their addressing methods will tax the new user. A great deal of attention will have to be paid to powering analog functions, as the included power supply is entirely too noisy to be useful for precise analog measurements, hence, will require extensive filtering.

Good luck!
