#16059 - RE: Cygnal 8051s, what's the difference? |
Hi Rauf,
I use the Cygnal C8051F226/236 chip. Cygnal provides a JTAG interface which connects to the PC via the serial port, and to the board via an IDC 10 pin connector/ribbon cable. They provide a very nice Integrated Developement Environment (IDE) which allow you to program the flash memory over the JTAG, and to set breakpoints and watchpoints to debug. This doesn't affect the program execution other than stopping and starting it as you step through the code. As you do this, it will show the state of the RAM, SRAM, SFR's, Ports, Dis-assembled code, etc... I've found this very helpful, and am continueing to design using their chips. Best to all, Josh |
