There's no reason to eschew 'C' or Pascal if the work product meets management's cost targets. Increased size is only critical if it increases cost. If a task will "fit" in your 8KB FLASH MCU written is 'C', I fully agree it matters not how it was coded, whether it is schlocky or elegant, whether it's 180 bytes or 8192. If it's 8193, though, and you have to buy the next larger MCU, well ...
