It may be that the manufacturer specified usage model for programming security bits is always meant to be done in the ISP mode. NXP's datasheet of MCU P89V51RD2 provides detailed description of both interfaces, via ISP and via IAP. Not all ISP functions are available in IAP domain. Function "Program Security Bit, Double Clock" is. Anyhow, it is a one-shot call: at next reboot the actual speed is checked and programming step skipped if not required. Hence, if something needs to go wrong, it does it right the first time. I believe I feel safe. |
