#162914 - You can use MS Excel Responding to: ???'s previous message |
It is possible to access the serial port using VBA within Microsoft Excel. Of course once the data is in Excel you have the full charting capabilty of that package.
Having said that, it can be an issue getting MSCOMM32 (not only for VBA but any version of Visual Basic up to VB6) to run and I would suggest you read the comments here http://archive.chipcenter.com/eexpert/r...by057.html There are two examples of how to do use the serial port from within Excel in my book "Excel by Example: A Microsoft Excel Cookbook for Electronics Engineers " published by Elsevier/Newnes ISBN 0750677562. You may want to look at a commercial package like this http://www.labtronics.com/DI/RS232_...DQod6D6qmg or http://software.techrepublic.com.com/abstract....cid=829697 An alternative would be to save the data to a file (using an existing program or write one yourself) and read that into Excel. There are a number of very simple file formats (like comma delimited) that would work. -Aubrey |
