How do you control the Q7 pin of the '165?
There is no reset ... it comes up at random. Normally, one would, during system reset, load it with a "00000000", having connected the clock pin to a free-running oscillator, pull the inhibit pin up, pull the (asynchronous) load pin down during reset. That will load the 165 with whatever is on the 8 input pins. Since the clock is inhibited, the loaded data persists so long as the inputs persist. RE |
