... the (SPI-like) ISP-ability of AT89S5x, as compared with the DIL-40-packaged "biblical" competition (of which at least Nuvoton (ex-Winbond) and Cyrod (ex-goal, and a Canadian company - Charles, are you a patriot? ;-) ) appear to be cheaper, based on what I see on distributors' websites for 100pcs). A need to purchase a device programmer would massively offset the price difference.
UART-ISPable "nearly-biblical" devices are certainly way more expensive. JW |
