Philips have an 8bit and a 16bit port expander driven off the I2C bus. These ports are functionally equivalent to the '51 ports we all know. you can have up to 8 8bit ports and 4 16bit ports on the 2 wire I2C bus.
The 8 bit chip is found at http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/pip/pcf8574p, the 16 bitter is equivalent, I do not recall the address.
