I am experiencing an oscillator problem with the 80C31BH (plcc package).

In this application Ports P3.0 and P3.2 are inputs to the 80C31.

When logic 0 applied to P3.0 or P3.2 the oscillator stops working when a RESET signal is applied to the RST pin.

When logic 1 applied to P3.0 or P3.2 when a RESET signal is applied to the RST pin the oscillator continues working.

I have tried 2 different Philips controllers and 1 Intel controller and the same problem occurs on them all.

I will be grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to why the oscillator stops working.
