#174790 - New with MCUs need a little help. |
I am curious about small electronics and i would like to start programming micro controllers.
I have ordered all the parts I need to build the spi-flash mcu programmer depicted Here there is a lot of information out there. I have read the tutorials on this site, and some others, but Its not clear to me exactly how to go from assembler or C to a hex file capable of being pushed to a micro controller. All the C code examples I have found seem to be pulling Includes from some unknown source. Is there a standard compiler for using C targeted for MCUs? Is there a benefit using C over assembler? I intend to help a friend make a countdown timer capable of going up to 10 years (that's his goal) But first i though I would start out trying to complete as simple tasks as possible. If anyone could point me to a good compiler or IDE it would be much appreciated. |
