Your first reply advices using word : either.
Rao choose first option : monitor the "ready" bit. At begining of disp() function he use wait.
More than that, because he felt not so sure if this helps, he even try 5ms delay at the end of function disp(). Then, commented out.
If you look further at his code will see some indecision : he must or not place a RET at the end of function ?

Could you send by email the output hex file, because I don't have the compiler and so unable to see what is wrong.
