8% error is more than i like to see on a serial link. I try to hold to a max deviation of 3%. If a 16Mhz XTAL was used (dead on for MIDI) and Timer 2 used for Bit Rate Generation a bit rate of 19,231 could be generated.

Most Downloaders use a download routine which perhaps in this case could be modified to execute using the 16 MHz xtal and a reload of FF E6 (RCAP2H,RCAP2L.
