It does not matter what is in the transmit part of SBUFF once the character has been transmitted because any reads to this address return the contents of the recieve register and to cause a byte to be transmitted via the serial port you have to write to SBUFF (ie the transmit register) therfore overwriteing whatever remainst in the transmit register
