I agree, of course, that subjects should be descriptive. That's why, as Andy pointed out, it's right there when people post their message: "Please use a descriptive subject".
I personally believe that many people are so used to the web and forums that they just see the prompts for Name, email address, and subject and don't even read the "extra" text to the right. Many people didn't pay attention to my "full name" request until I coded the forum to actually require what *appears* to be a first and last name. I might have to use Andy's idea of red flashing text. Or at least red. As they said in Ghostbusters, "Ok, guys, the usual stuff's not working." Another possibility is just having Steve or I actually change the name of the thread in those cases. I don't like editing other's content but it might be warranted. Craig Steiner |
