Sorry about not providing enough information about lcd interfacing that i have actually done in my circuit. Please pardon me sir for the mistake . I also thank Hal albach for his invaluable guidance
& now i have understood that i should be very clear in my queries.
so here i am trying it.
1. i am using p89c51rd+ as microcontroller
i am using lampex 16X1 lcd display.
2. lcd has three control pins
RS ; to select data register or command register
EN ; enable signal
WR/RD; to select read or write

RS connected to 3.2
WR/RD " 3.1
EN " 3.0

3. i am providing proper Vlcd i.e contrast voltage to lcd
Also i have configured lcd to work in 5x7 character font
4. i am using p1 as data port
5. sir i have provided proper hookup to control pins. i.e. EA connected to
+5v ( high)
I have checked all MCU connections properly.
6. AND finally the result . THE result is that instead of the character i sent
only dots are seen. i.e. 35 dots in place of each character, arranged in 5x7 format . this i get even if i power on only lcd & not MCU
I hope i have cleared everything.

Did you mean that i should make EN first low & then high ?
