#21413 - RE: RTOS on basic 8051 possible? |
"Well, my question here is, can a RTOS be built on a basic 8051 with 4kB or more code memory and 128 bit or some more RAM? i don't think it is possible. but is it that we must have some 16 bit processor like the XA?"
Yes, There are sevaral '51 RTOS available commercially, check www.cmx.com for one. "Second question is whether building an RTOS is better or working on some standard available RTOS? what do the professionals in this field do? As a good career future, what should be a better option?" This ain't pantyhose, one size does NOT fit all. In some cases a commercial RTOS is the right solution, in others it is not. "Any more information or link to study the RTOS or embedded systems subject will be welcome." As a fairly simple excersise try to build an event driven prioritizing RTOS just based on the soft interrupts in the XA, I did, it was fun. Reply | That's not nice! Erik |
