I suggest either downloading the batronix assembler, or the one from vaultbbs, both have built in simulators. You can test your code in there before endlessly flashing your chips. Once the program works in one of those, then, and only then try it on your chip.

I spend 99% of my time using simulators, then flash the chip with the program to test it.

The program is very small, so it will fit in both the trail versions of these asssemblers.
