Correct me if i'm wrong
I think if you use a pin for serial comms you cant use it as i/o pin at the same time.
Same for interrupt pins, when you get lots of peripherals on the chip and limited number of pins pins have different functions for different settings.
for example when you configure pin as analog input you set its function as analog input and cant use it for anything else.
