I also have some experience making a step-up SMPS powersupply for our Air-force requirement. That 14 years old design is still used by our Air-force. I made one from 30Volts, Truck battery to 5kv for radar screen, but current was just few mAmps. But I remember the shocks I had during the design and test.

But here space is the problem to fix all the circuit in a very small place.
