Why not using a CPLD that converts the serial data stream to a parallel format.

This can do the trick.

After receiving the data in the CPLD, you could trigger a strobe signal (IRQ) that reads the data.

If needed, implement a Dual Ported RAM into your CPLD for buffering the speedy data.
