Do they really?

It used to be 24 f.p.s. when I was a young thing, upped to 25 f.p.s. to avoid a nasty 1Hz flicker for TV work.

But you still get an annoying flicker at 25 f.p.s. Therefore, they show each frame at least twice at the cinema. Ditto with TV where it is 25 f.p.s. interlaced to a 50Hz field rate. All because 45Hz or thereabouts is about as slow as you can go to 'fool the eye'.

Of course in "foreign parts" they use non-standard 60Hz mains power and match their TV field rate to that! So maybe their films do run at 30 f.p.s. too?!! ;-)
