#28624 - RE: Open several COM ports |
OK, I’ll try to clear a little bit more this case.
At the PC I have about 4 software applications that when I open them they automatically open COM port. Therefore, if one application is already opened windows will not let me open another application. At the target side I have also 4 communication blocks for each application. Each communication block communicates with the PC with dedicated protocol based on RS232 levels. My target board is connected to the PC’s COM port. In standard work I configure my target (by software setup) to work only with one application and only this application is opened in the PC side. Now I want to set my target to work with all 4 applications simultaneously, meaning each period of time the software on my target activate other communication block and send/receive data to/from PC. For doing that I need to open all 4 applications on the PC side, but its impossible. So, I thought about special block on the PC side that from one side open the COM port and from the other side he open 4 “virtual COMs”. In this way when I’ll open all 4 applications they will be opened, because each application will open one “virtual COM ports”. This is my basic idea. Is it possible? Those someone have any experience with that? Thanks a lot, Roberto. |
