#29726 - No, tutorial copies are unauthorized
No, I don't generally "allow" people to make online copies of the tutorial. My reasoning is that if the tutorial is free and acccesible at 8052.com, why should it be necessary to make online copies? It's not like 8052.com needs a mirror--it is completely capable of handling the traffic.

I have made exceptions in a couple of cases when, apparently, the potential readers didn't have access to the Internet and I was asked if they could store the tutorial on their local network. My response was that they could if 1) the users in question didn't have access to the Internet and, thus, accessing 8052.com would be impossible, 2) the tutorial was only available within the organization, not to the Internet in general.

There is also one translation to Italian that was authorized.

The site you mention is a good example of what truly annoys the heck out of me. Not only did they not ask for permission, not only is it available on the Internet, but they also took my tutorial and stripped all mention of the source and author. Of course, they also stripped the copyright information. More than the fact that there are copies of my tutorials out there, what really annoys me is they have the nerve to remove all references to the source. Beyond copyright infringement, that's just unethical and shows how some people (and organizations) can and will take advantage of what is made available for free.

I've found quite a few sites with copies of the tutorial. Some users have notified me of others. You can grab a sentence from one of my tutorials and search for it in Google and you'll find a number of copies. My intention is to soon go through and contact all of them and ask them to remove the content. Those that cite 8052.com as the source will receive kindly worded requests; those that have stripped all reference to 8052.com will receive rather terse requests. :)

If anyone finds more copies of the tutorial on websites, please let me know. I do plan on addressing the issue of unauthorized copies of the tutorial being made publically available on other Internet sites.
