nice application circuits are given in the data manual of NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTORS
and in its application notes

since i have burnt my hand many times,
its my kind advice not to make any pcb for analog ciccuits, unless it is tested in a general purpose board.

as peter said an I-V converter is essentially required for this current o/p
dac.the circuit in data sheets worked perfectly for me
