Personally, I would never put a naked device straight onto the processor pin, I would buffer it with a schmitt trigger first and always.
The opto device can work with either an emitter load or a collector load, but it should have a defined load to operate with, then in either Charles' circuit or its inverse, the device end of the resistor goes to the schmitt. Steve |
