you need a FF or semiconductor fuse I used Lawson LC series fuses (RS no. 413-816)in a theatre lighting dimmer the triacs survive direct shorts (when a clss T lamp dies it shorts breifly WHY?) the triac was a 40A chip derated to 25A by the package fused at 10A
