An opto-isolated interface is nice and can be done, but high precision is tricky. Erik's method V-F F-V is also do-able, but 12 bits will need a 4095:1 change in frequency...then you need to clip it up, feed it to the opto isolators, pick it back up and convert to volts again - with 12 bit precision..... I tend to disagree Erik for my application which is sending dc level between 0 - 1 VDC to emulate a sensor reading for the software guys to start working on their project. However V/F and F/V might be better solution for higher frequency signals. Would this method work to transmit isolated video signals? Don't need to bother with V-f - its already AC, which fixes the problem with your system- you're using DC. Steve |
