Hi..
First, I'm not sure that all the wires you see is going to the motor. usually CD-ROM Motors are DC Motors. I Think most of the pins you see, Are going into the Lazer Lens. Anyway, The motor you describe is a STEP MOTOR. If you want to make it work, you have to make a Pulse in every pin, in order to move it, one pin at a time, by certain order. every pulse moves the motor one step forward, until it makes a complete cycle. then you should complete a cycle too (in the pins).
