#31218 - RE: cdrom motor |
Hi
I just opened a broken CDROM drive and it has 2 normal DC motors, 1 for door eject and anotherdc motor for head positioning mechanism. The main motor used to spin the CD is a brushless DC motor, it contains 10 coils on the pcb and 3 hall sensors. There is a brushless dc motor control chip on the big pcb of the drive that activates coil sets acording to the magnetic hall effect sensor status thus keeping the motor in contineous rotation. The advantage of this method is that you dont have brushes to wear out and much less noise. Regards Mahmood |
