#32253 - Is an RTOS too much? |
Hello,
I would like to use CMX RTX for my system. My system will be a single chip solution: an 8051 with 32K of on-board flash, 128 bytes of internal SRAM, and 2048 bytes of on-board "external" SRAM. The processor runs at 24 MHz. Here is my question: Am I asking too much of the processor, given the specs above and that I will have 8 to 10 tasks? Should I drop the RTOS from my design? Is 2048 bytes of SRAM enough? The reason I am selecting an RTOS is because I will be constantly adding features and refining the software in my system. Once I get over the learning curve for the RTOS, I figure that having an RTOS will be a superior to using a "super loop", esp. from the software design perspective. Thanks in advance for any feedback. |
