#33177 - RE: SRAM with I2C bus Taner |
FRAMs are great - but beware! READING involves erase and re-write (it is a 'detructive' read - like core stores used to be - remember those?). So just reading will wear them out. I had an app that read every 20ms. I calculated the life would be around 2-3years. I did talk to tech support about the failure mechanism but no clear advice came back. I think time-related amnesia occurs as they reach wear-out.
They also erase-write a whole line when a byte is read (check the architecture), so it's not just the over-read byte that wears out. Dave |
