what we use is local globals, ie define static variables so that they keep their value when the function or interrupt finished.
I never heard of a "local global", a static variable is what you are talking about, a "normal" C feature. Erik: You are not writting a data base program with your 8052 are you! The point I'm making is use the '51 for what it is good at, control functions that fit in 64k and does not do major calculations, if you are doing something else, (such as database processing) use something else.
