#33267 - AT89C2051 serial port configuration |
I'm looking to use an AT89C2051 part in a new design. My previous circuits have used 8032 parts which could operate at up to 12MHz, so tended to use the 11.059 MHz xtal which divides down nicely to 'standard' serial port baud rates when used with the on-chip timer.
However, the AT89C2051 can be clocked at up to 24MHz. Seems a shame to run it 'slow' with an 11.059MHz xtal. I've looked at the tutorial page on 'Setting serial port baud rates', but cannot work out how 'close' the timer reload value needs to be to the 'standard' baud rate which I want. Can anybody offer advice on whether it is possible to achieve 'standard' rates of 1200 thru 19200 baud with a 24MHz xtal (and if so, what timer configuration I might use)? Thanks, Derek. |
