#33941 - RE: Idle and power down modes in at89c51 |
I use sleep mode in my voice recognition system while it is waiting for something worth listening to the processor is in sleep mode to save power.Once the input from the microphone exceeds a certain level a voltage comparator generates an external interrupt and the processor wakes up and starts sampling the audio signal. If it didnt do that the processor would waste power simply twiddling its thumbs as it were. The battery would soon go flat.
