Speed does not matter in this particular application. The difference we are talking about is microseconds and it isn't an issue in my project. I am going through a search algorithm, finding an address and sending that to a chipcorder so even a full second would not make much of a difference. Also, I am not so very familiar with RAM in terms of what people on these boards speak of...when I think of RAM, I think volatile. I know there are memory chips out there that use battery backups and never lose their information and I might spend time (when I find some) researching this. I am only an egg, I still have much to learn (and so little time).




2) Flash eventually wears out, unlike RAM. What MTBF can your application tolerate?

Also, not really an issue. I only expect the flash to be erased and reprogrammed maybe 5 times max over the life of the device. The information in the chip is semi-permanent. I decided on the flash because I need to have the ability to add data in circuit....well, that and I had a sample handy that I could play around with.
