I agree with you Steve!! Product robustness, if designed in, is normally 75% engineering and 25% cost. It is not that hard to look at many common products and see how poorly designed that they are and how they could have been made better from an circuit standpoint, from a PC layout standpoint, or from a packaging standpoint.
