#3474 - RE: CAN bus driver |
CAN'T INTERFACE IT:
=================== The problem I have with CAN is that the transceivers are pin-hogs. Until I can switch a CAN transceiver into my TXD/RXD pair through a '4052, and maybe offer a couple of enables, I can't use it. If such a chip exists, I'll add it to the board and solder the CAN transceiver on some of the lab units to experiment to experimnt with. IF ITS GOT TXD, CONFIG THROUGH IT: ================================== While I'm ranting, let me say that if a company makes a inteface chip that ports TXD/RXD from the micro, why not allow us to to use TXD to write into its configuration area? I'll gladly surrender one extra pin as a config enable. I'm sure the SJA1000 is fine, but they didn't need to make its I/O massively parallel? Their system design engineers should spend a summer in their customers' labs and get reacquainted with applied microconrollers. -Jay C. Box PS Until I get my nice imaginary Maxim 4XX CAN transceiver, I can't do more than watch CAN discussions. Hmmm, maybe I should call my friend at Maxim and ask him when this imaginary part will leave he Austin foundary... |
