Yes, BUT ONLY IF THE DRIVE HAD BEEN FORMATTED BY A STANDARD DISK SETUP UTILITY UNDER ONE OF THE AFOREMENTIONED OPERATING SYSTEMS. That said however, there is a command in the IDE command set that will return the drive capabilities report which will include size information. I believe the command gives total number of sectors.
