I am using the counter to count some pulses. I want to periodically check the count on the counter and then refresh it. The problem is that i can spare only 3 port pins of my microcontroller but i require an 8 bit counter. So I was wondering if I could get the count from the counter serially. I can not use another microcontroller coz that would add to the cost and complexity of the circuit.
Please help.
