On duplicating a smaller hard drive to a larger one with a simple sector copy will usually result in a non-functioning copy (crashes or freezes during boot) because of the different physical geometries. If you have ever done a Windows Disk Defragment you will have noticed many non-relocateable blocks which are left alone because if they are moved physical referances will be destroyed.
In my field experience even sophisticated Cloning programs have a hard time cloning smaller to larger. I'm not saying it cannot be done, it just has many problems. Happy New Year Hal |
