#35381 - RE: two ide hard disk interface |
Whenever I cloned hard drives I never had any problems if the hard drive geometries were the same, including number of heads, cylinders. I have to admit that my experience has been limited to OS2 and Windows NT Workstation. I have Discopy by Powerquest and it claims to be able to clone across different geometries but I have never done it successfully. It always ended with a "sector count mismatch" and would stop, leaving the copy unusable and an hour or two lost. I always wound up rebuilding the software from install disks. If your geometries are the same you should not have any problems making a usable clone.
