Generally speaking it takes more effort to unlock a chip and recreate source from the code in the chip than it would take to start from scratch.
If the code is not useable as "binary image copy" I would not worry about the code getting stolen. I, once had to go through a "source from object" excersise (the plant had burned and no offsite copies existed), fortunately this was assembler and thus interpretable, it took abt 10 times as long as I anticipated and, had I known, I would have "decoded" the hardware (schematics burned as well) and generated new software. On another occsion I had to decode C code from object, that, my friends, is virtually impossible, on that one, We started from scratch. Erik |
