Babar ,If you shoot 1inch plate at point blank range it will make a big mark, but at above the 50 yard mark the damage is small,unless a large calibre weapon with suitable armour is used..
Tungsten carbide is too brittle and would break,not to mention the cost.
The only problem with using a steel plate with sensors mounted on it is controlling the ricochet'ed bullets..
