Could anyone out there please help because I am attempting to develope a product using the 8052 micro-controller using the modbus protocol.

Since this is my very first attempt at producing code for the modbus communication protocol any help would be very much appreciated (e.g. specification, application notes, source code etc).

I have been browsing the web and all the information I can find, seems to imply that modbus only supports floating point numbers. Is this correct because I would like to be able transmit strings, dates etc.
