#37360 - RE: Code Recovery with Watch Dog Timers |
<html>
i suppose if you have got all the bugs out, why waste prom with a diagnostic routine? ... but if it's possible you haven't got all the bugs out (or if the s/w is moderately complex), i wouldn't consider it a waste of prom ... and the software traps we were discussing utilize all of spare prom, not allocated prom; i doubt the diagnostic routine would take that much space. i'd be more worried about it timing out the watchdog. even if you don't use a diagnostic routine, filling spare prom with spin locks would cause the watchdog to trip on bad threads that might otherwise recover the context sufficiently to do more damage (before finally crashing). <table><tr><td>james</td><td> </td><td> www.jameshinnant.com</td></tr></td></table> </html> |
