I don't have a gameconsole myself, but I recently had to fix one for a PS2 of some friend's kids. For the purpose you indicate it may just be a little overdone: there's an increadible amount of rubbish in there and unless you don't want to use force-feedback and stuff like that it may be much easier to use a cheap PC joystick for that purpose.
