Considering the fact that all the issues here have been covered in detail in the last couple of weeks, Menno's reaction seems entirely sensible.

The circuits you posted don't seem very relevant to the question : Bruce needs high speed switching and FAST commutation. A buffer chip (4000 series maybe) would help greatly with the gate drive.
