The output chip will have a guaranteed minimum Ioh and Iol. The input chip will have a maximum Iih and Iil.

So read the datasheets and as long as the sum of all maximum Iil for all inputs do not exceede minumum Iol for the output AND the sum of all maximum Iih for all inputs do not exceede minimum Ioh for the output you are safe.
